9-round aluminum magazine for .17 HMR and .22 WMR.
NOTE: TacSol magazines are specifically engineered for optimal fit and function with 10/22®-style platforms and TacSol rifles and receivers. Due to the wide variation in aftermarket components, TacSol can only guarantee compatibility with TacSol and Ruger® 10/22® systems.
As TacSol enters a new phase in the company’s history, their goal has been to design and manufacture more products in-house to meet the quality and value expectations of their customer base.
With the release of TacSol's new Owyhee magnum rimfire rifle, their team decided it was time to develop their own rotary magazine to complement the precision and quality of this new sporting rifle.
This new aluminum magazine not only improves the feeding performance among a variety of different ammunition types, but also incorporates new materials and ergonomic elements which are not found in any other rotary magazines to date.
Details – Feed Lips
Unlike the common and basic cast feed-lips found in most magazines, TacSol has opted to machine the feed lips from 416 stainless-steel bar stock, heat treating the cut blanks to 32 Rockwell prior to machining. This process results in a precisely machined feed lip which is tough yet not brittle, and extremely uniform in dimensions.
The feed lip’s design is also unique in that TacSol has removed sharp corners from the front of the feed lips, resulting in a “melted” styling which makes loading much easier on the fingers.
After machining, the feed lips undergo a three-step finishing process which results in a smooth and attractive surface finish, clearly setting it apart from other magazines on the market.
Details – Magazine Body
The next step was to machine their own aluminum magazine bodies, allowing TacSol to incorporate special design elements and additional refinements such as a keyed face plate which prevents rotation or torquing of the magazine, as well as properly chamfered edges.
Starting with bar stock certified 6061 aluminum alloy, TacSol painstakingly machines each body on one of their massive CNC vertical mills, assuring absolute precision, concentricity, and uniformity for all critical aspects of the magazine body. The precise location of the keyed notch in the body corresponds to the robust face plate, firmly locking together each half of the magazine.
At nearly triple the weight of a basic plastic magazine, this heavy-duty aluminum magazine has the heft of a quality product.
TacSol opted to go with a tough, Type 3 hard-coat anodization to protect the magazine from handling wear and to further enhance the overall aesthetic appearance of the product.
Hardware
It was only fitting to select 416 stainless-steel for the axle and hex nut, bringing yet another level of quality to this new magazine.
